About Búdapest
Búdapest er höfuðborg Ungverjalands og jafnframt miðpunktur, stjórnmála, menningar, viðskipta, iðnaðar og samgangna fyrir Ungverjaland í heild sinni. Árið 1873 sameinuðust borgirnar á bökkum Dónár, Buda og Óbuda á hægri bakkanum, þeim vestari, og Pest á vinstri bakkanum, þeim eystri í eina borg, Búdapest. Nú er borgin sú tíunda stærsta innan Evrópusambandsins. Tæp 1,7 milljón manns (2025) búa í borginni sem er nokkru færri en á hátindi íbúafjöldans um miðjan níunda áratug 20. aldar en þá bjuggu um 2,1 milljón manns í borginni.
