Singapúr er borgríki á eyju við suðurodda Malakkaskaga í Suðaustur-Asíu. Landið liggur sunnan við malasíska héraðið Johor og norðan við Riau-eyjar í Indónesíu. Nafnið er dregið af tveimur orðum úr sanskrít singa sem merkir „ljón“ og pura sem merkir „borg“. Singapúr gengur líka undir sínu gamla malasíska nafni Temasek.
