About Haítí
Haítí, formlega Lýðveldið Haítí, er land á vestari helmingi eyjunnar Hispaníólu, sem er ein af Stóru Antillaeyjum í Karíbahafi, austan við Jamaíka og Kúbu og sunnan við Bahamaeyjar og Turks- og Caicoseyjar. Það nær yfir þrjá áttundu hluta eyjunnar og á landamæri að Dóminíska lýðveldinu í austri. Landið nær auk þess yfir eyjarnar La Gonâve, Tortúga, Les Cayemites og Ile a Vache. Suðvestan við Haítí er óbyggða smáeyjan Navassaeyja undir stjórn Bandaríkjanna sem landið gerir tilkall til. Haítí er 27.750 km² að stærð og íbúar eru taldir vera rúmar 11 milljónir sem gerir landið að fjölmennasta landinu innan CARICOM og því næstfjölmennasta í Karíbahafi, á eftir Kúbu.
